Decorating Tips for the Holidays
November/December 2007

Wow, I feel like I blinked my eyes and the year gave me December.   I am grateful to all of you whom I’ve met, hired or become an associate or friend with this year. Your inspiration, referrals and continued belief in me and my talent as an Interior Designer has touched me on a very deep level.  There is truly no success reached without the help of others.  Thank you.

T
o my clients, thank you for trusting in me to design your dream home or professional office space.  Please know that you inspire me to design for you because of your belief in my ability to give you what you’ve always dreamed of, but couldn’t create for yourself.   Your referrals have continued to help my business grow.

Here’s great news for us.  We have moved into an office space in Westlake Village.  Please make note of our new address, phone and fax numbers.  Also, if you have an email address other than karen@fullcircleid.com, please discontinue using it.

I
t’s that time of year again when we are busy making everything in our environment beautiful with a festive flair.  Here are a few tips to help you make your holiday table festive.  First, I’d like to make some color suggestions.  Instead of just using the regular red and green with gold, try red and purple and gold with a splash of green.  It still gives you the color you want for the holiday, but the purple adds an element of surprise and compliments the already tried and true red and green standard. Of course, cream, white or black are basic colors and

look great with any color.  Using two metallics, gold and silver with red is beautiful.  It helps warm up silver, which can sometimes feel cold.

R
ibbon is always wonderful on a table.  Use the wired kind because you can make it do anything. Tie it around napkins or create a soft ribbon runner by cutting pieces in odd numbers.  Lay it on top of a lace or sheer tablecloth.  Attach ribbon with sewing pins to the outside border of a tablecloth and loop it and attach bows.  Use ribbon on candles or

anything you can tie it around such as chairs, vases and of course your tree.  Use plaids, lace, floral and solid ribbons.  Be sure to use lots of color.  The more you use the more festive your home will be.

If you have a fireplace, use artificial sugared fruit, ornaments, and candles of different heights.  Thread the ribbon through it to create a festive look.

Fill a tall clear glass or simple cut crystal vase and fill it with beautiful ornaments, stars and branches of sparkly green stems.

Here’s a helpful hint for putting lights on your tree.  Instead of stringing the lights on the tree in a circular manner, string them from top to bottom.  It looks beautiful, and you can’t tell how they are hung when they are lit.  It also makes it easier to take them off after the holiday.  Use mini white lights on any large plants in your home.

Here’s the biggest hint of all:  HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!  It’s the time of year when almost anything goes and you can create your own version of beauty.

Please be safe and have a wonderful holiday with those whom are near and dear to you.
